Oops... confession time!

BETH THOMAS

RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST

Hey there Reader,

Right. Small confession time.

I proofread my last email.

Thoroughly.

And still managed to announce that we were nearly at the end of May.

It's April. Still (I'm fairly certain anyway...)

Several of you very kindly pointed this out, and I want to say thank you β€” not just for flagging it, but for laughing about it with me rather than at me.

That distinction matters.

Here's the thing.

A few years ago, a public blunder like that would have floored me.

I'd have replayed it on a loop, shrinking smaller and smaller until I was basically wishing the floor would absorb me entirely.

The shame of it would have been genuinely debilitating.

But I've done a lot of work with RSD.

And this time?

I laughed.

A little pink-faced, yes β€” but I laughed.

That's what the work actually looks like.

Not some polished, perfectly linear transformation.

It's in the messy moments of making a very public mistake and finding you can sit with it.

I call myself a recovering perfectionist for a reason.

The recovery is ongoing, and rather gloriously, it's happening right in front of you.

Anyway.

On to the exciting bit.

The monthly masterclasses are back!

And I'm kicking them off myself.

Monday 18th May, 5:30pm β€” Overcoming Overwhelm

Exclusively inside the Curious Minds Collective.

This is a 60-minute session for anyone who feels like everything is too much, all the time β€” and has quietly started to accept that as just... life.

It isn't.

Or at least, it doesn't have to be.

We're heading into one of the most reliably overwhelming times of year.

Exam season.

The creeping panic that it's nearly June and the goals you set in January are side-eyeing you.

Summer logistics.

The job you're still not sure about.

The promotion that still hasn't happened.

Overwhelm doesn't look the same for everyone β€” but it tends to land in the same place.

That frustrating, stuck, exhausted feeling where even starting feels impossible.

I'm going to help you understand what's actually happening when overwhelm hits, how to spot it earlier, and how to build strategies that are genuinely usable β€” not complicated systems that need more energy to remember than they give back.

Practical.

Real.

Immediately applicable.

It also ties directly into this month's theme of beliefs and burnout β€” because overwhelm left unaddressed is usually where burnout starts.

This is a free benefit for subscribing Curious Minds members.

If you're not yet subscribed, this would be a very good moment.

I'd genuinely love to see you there.

And in the meantime β€” if you could do one thing for yourself this weekend, let it be this: give yourself a fraction of the care and energy you're already so generous with for everyone else.

You deserve it.

Honestly.

Best and brightest love.

Beth x

BETH THOMAS RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST Hey there Reader, Happy Friday everyone! I’m sending this a week later than originally planned... Past me probably would have been in full shame spiral by now. Have I been annoyed with myself that I didn't send this when I'd promised to? Of course. Has it created a big swirly shame spiral that felt eternally torturous? Not so much! Current-me is choosing to see it differently: I’m meeting myself with kindness instead of judgment. (spoiler; this has not...

BETH THOMAS RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST Hey there Reader, Happy Friday! You’ve made it through another week. I hope you’re finding a moment to celebrate yourself for that. I have two quick updates, both for events next week that I’m genuinely excited about, and I’d love to see you there! Before that, I want to share a beautiful moment we had in the Curious Minds Collective. Last night was our games night, and we had a blast! It was a beautiful way to end the day and I didn't realise how much I...

BETH THOMAS RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST Hey there Reader, So. It is officially May. I know, I know... I've checked. Twice. Because as some of you very kindly pointed out last week, I got the dates spectacularly wrong (again) whilst joking with you about getting dates wrong. The irony was not lost on me! I am, if nothing else, consistent. But it did get me thinking. What happens when we hear something often enough that we just… stop questioning it? Not because it's obviously true. Not even...
