You deserve to have a safe space

RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST

Hi Reader,

It's the end of the day and I still feel like I've got a million things to do.

But something happened today.

Someone messaged me - they're over 50, recently diagnosed with ADHD and possibly autistic too.

Something in my social media content connected with them.

They told me something that completely caught me off guard:

"After all this time, I've never had a safe space with someone who actually listened."

No miracle intervention or groundbreaking work was involved.

I just answered like one human being to another.

I validated what they were feeling and reminded them they're allowed to feel it all.

That's it.

They told me they want to feel different but are terrified.

Decades of survival mode and coping mechanisms have them wondering if change is even possible anymore.

So I'm going to tell you what I told them:

Change is always possible when you believe it's possible.

There's more to the journey than that obviously, but the principle holds.

It starts with belief.

Whether you think you can or think you can't you're both right.

From there, you find the right support, the right people, the right approaches to help you discover what your change looks like.

You only have to start with permission to believe it can happen.

I say this because I know this person isn't alone.

This is my core belief: everyone deserves to feel like they have a place in this world that's equally valid as anyone else's.

So many people are dragging limiting beliefs around like a rucksack full of bricks.

Especially crushing when you're neurodivergent, particularly with a late diagnosis, you been carrying this stuff around for so much time.

But honestly?

You don't even have to be neurodivergent for this to apply to you.

Any number of life experiences can create that sense of not quite belonging, of fundamental disconnection from yourself and the world around you.

So if you've ever felt like you don't have a place, or if today is one of those days where everything feels too much - I want you to know: you are loved, you are valued, and you deserve safety.

There are still a few spots left in my masterclass on Tuesday evening with the wonderful Samantha Garstin.

We're diving into ADHD & hormones, making sense of the chaos, and I've got a whole list of questions I can't wait to explore together.

I'd love to have you there.

I genuinely want to hear from you.

Best and brightest love.

BETH THOMAS RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST HReaderi, I spent Friday at the Super Speaker Showcase, and I still haven't quite worked out what happened. There was I, in a room packed with professional speakers โ€“ most with tons of experience, polished presentations, years of getting better. All watched by VIP bookers from top agencies across the UK and beyond. High stakes. High expectations. Absolutely no pressure! Ten speakers. Fifteen minutes each. Nearly everyone used their entire time slot. But...

BETH THOMAS RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST Hi Reader. By the time you're reading this, I'll be deep into running the Super Speaker Showcase with my friend Michelle Mills-Porter. Not speaking at it. Running it. And there's a story here I need to tell you. I applied to speak at this showcase twice. I didn't get in the first time. That hurt. I didn't get in again the second time either. But I made the reserve list. That might not sound like winning. But it was moving forward. The first time was a no....

BETH THOMAS RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST Hi, Reader I blocked someone this week. A therapist, would you believe. Someone in a position of authority who should have known better. They'd been leaving comments on my TikTok videos that were not just incorrect โ€“ they were harmful. I love a good debate as much as anyone else. I'm all for exchanging ideas, challenging each other, growing together. But this wasn't that. This was someone using clinical language in an unhealthy way to cause damage....
